20 years in the building technologies industry
100's of projects completed
During high school I worked on weekends installing temporary out door public address systems, making public announcements, running mobile discos and mowing lawns. When I did my apprenticeship as an electrician, there were no mobile phones, no internet and no such thing as home automation. From these humble beginnings, I now run my own business and am at the cutting edge of the Electrotechnology sector.
Following high school in 1991, I completed an electrical mechanics apprenticeship. During the apprenticeship, I completed additional advanced electrical courses at night school to achieve A grade certification with significant further endorsements.
In 1997 I had opportunity to accept employment as the maintenance electrician at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. While working in the Embassy, I was exposed to higher level technical works, aiding the consular department reworking the data and telephone networks.
Upon my return to Australia at the end of 1998 I began an electrical contracting business, and undertook formal qualifications in telephone and data systems.
From 2000 I began to add further significant qualifications in building automation systems, lighting control systems, security and access control systems, security camera systems, control systems and THX certification in high end audio visual system design.
During 2008 I was asked to be a guest lecturer to the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) for a number of years after at the national conference. I have also been a guest lecturer on multiple occasions to final year architecture students and Deakin University Geelong. Over the past 15 years I have contributed to the building technologies industry via media articles and as a guest speaker to help raise the quality of the industry as a whole.
Apart form having just taken on the new role of general manager, I am also studying the Executive MBA at RMIT.
